ALTER (Adult Literacy Through Enhanced Recognition) provides a web-based development and delivery platform for instructor guided, student-driven, adult literacy training.

A shared knowledge base of situational learning models is used to support training for basic literacy, workplace literacy, and functional literacy (see the literacy diagram). The web-based and software-driven approach used by ALTER provides significantly increased productivity and flexibility for the creation, sharing, and delivery of training.

The result is increased meta cognitive awareness so learning and language skills are enhanced for people who have a need to increase their level of literacy.

Participants in the training will also gain an enhanced level of literacy by manipulating technology and becoming familiar with the basic operations of the computer (PC or Mac).
